- Most people fail to execute because they fall in love with their product, but forget the other key components.
- In any new business there are several key positions that need to be filled. They can be filled with others or yourself, but you have to be successful at all these components:
- The visionary
- Someone delivering the product/service
- Selling/marketing
- Finances
- You have to have someone who understands the books and the finances or your business will never make money.
- Remember just because you have a great product/service does not mean it will sell itself. There has to be someone handling the sales component.
- It is important to remember you have to play to your strengths. If there is an important area you are not strong at, you need to bring in someone who is.
- It is generally the psychology that gets in the way, not the lack of knowledge.
- Businesses only go out of business for one reason… they are out of cash. Treat cash like it’s gold.
- The biggest mistake many companies make is they throw money at issues vs. trying to fix it as cheaply as possible.
- It is important to pay yourself first. Factor in X percent for profit, taxes and then expenses.

- It is important not to try to systematize and automate everything. We lose touch with our base this way.
- Do not lose the connections and relationships. There is no replacement for human interaction. Pick up the phone and call your customers. Just talk to them.

- Every day ask yourself what are those things that are really top of mind and draining energy and focus away from things. If it takes up all your mental energy, it is affecting the other areas of your life.
