Sometimes it’s tough constantly coming up with good blog post ideas that help your business’s website gain more traffic. But I’ve found a few methods that consistently help businesses find great blog post topics — no matter the industry. In this article, I’m going to go through 3 easy ways to find great content ideas for your website, and I’ll also be giving a bonus tip on how to give your blog posts that extra sparkle.

Finding Blog Content Ideas

Before finding good blog content ideas, you need to look at what keywords relate to your business and which keywords you want to target. So, take some time to look at what keywords relate to your business. For example, if you’re a sales agency, your main keywords could be “sales”, “help with sales, “sales agency”, etc.

Once you know your business’s main keywords, you can start looking for blog post ideas. While there are many ways to look for blog post topics, here are my 3 favorites:

AnswerThePublic

AnswerThePublic is a website that will help you find great blog content ideas based on any particular keyword or phrase. It collects frequently searched terms from search engines like Google and shows the most relevant searched terms based on your chosen keyword.

First, choose a keyword that relates to your business. For example, if you’re a SaaS (Software as a Service) business, one of your chosen keywords could be “SaaS”.

Next, go to AnswerThePublic and input “SaaS” into the search box, and click Search. Once the search has finished processing, you’ll see a huge list of frequently searched terms and phrases relating to SaaS.

Based on the results, you can create blog post ideas using the most commonly searched terms. For example, when making this search I can see that “How does SaaS work?” is a popular search term. It suggests to me that many people are interested in seeing what SaaS businesses can do for them. So, knowing this, you can create a blog title and content that targets these readers.

Google’s Automated Search Results

Google is still a really great tool for helping you find great blog post ideas. This method is pretty straightforward — simply type in your keyword into Google’s search engine and wait for the automatic suggestions to appear in the dropdown menu beneath the search box. The words that appear in bold in the dropdown menu are Google’s suggested searches based on the most frequently searched terms relating to any specific keyword. Take note of the suggestions and see if you can use any of them to create a blog post idea.

Using Google’s automated suggestions is very easy but still effective, and you’re being shown what are the most popular search terms right now relating to your keyword.

Quora

Quora is a question and answer platform — people ask questions on many different topics and people with expertise in those areas will answer the user’s question. The reason Quora is great is that you’ll get an idea of what people who want to know more about businesses like yours really want to know. For example, if you’re in a social media marketing agency, user’s who are looking to outsource their social media marketing might ask “What should it usually cost to hire a social media marketing agency?” or “Can social media marketing really help my business?”.

By taking these two examples Quora questions, we can create blog post ideas, such as “Can Social Media Really Help Your Business?” or “Is Hiring a Social Media Marketing Agency Expensive in 2020?”. Using Quora gives you a really good insight into what real people actually want to know. And as it’s frequently updated with new questions relating to almost any topic, it’s a great place to look for fresh blog content ideas.

Using the Same Method to Find FAQ Ideas

As we’ve discussed in a previous article, it’s important to also include an FAQ section at the bottom of your main blog posts. The reason for this is Google has recently introduced a feature that shows a FAQ dropdown box underneath specific web pages in search results. But it’s also a good idea to add FAQs to help readers get quick answers to commonly asked questions instead of contacting your business’s customer support.

You can use the same methods shown in this article to find good FAQ ideas to add underneath your blog posts. This can also have a positive impact on how well your content ranks in search engines.
